You add a card and carry on. Nothing is deleted and nothing changes in the inbox — if you don't subscribe, the account pauses and your forwarding rule is yours to remove.
Inbound mail never stops — forwarding is a rule in your own mail admin, and your address keeps receiving whether or not Bosun is in front of it. You can export your threads before you go.
