Forward a hosted mailbox to Bosun

Applies to cPanel, Plesk and most website-hosting email. You add a forwarder that copies mail to Bosun while the original mailbox keeps receiving.

  1. Log in to cPanel and open Email → Forwarders.

  2. Choose Add Forwarder.

  3. Address to forward: your shared address (e.g. info@yourdomain.co.uk).

  4. Destination: your Bosun ingest address (e.g. in-8f3a2c94@in.usebosun.com).

  5. To keep a copy in the original mailbox, some hosts need the forwarder created as “forward with copy” — if you only see plain forwarding, check Email → Email Accounts still lists the mailbox and test.

Careful: If the shared address is only a forwarder (no real mailbox behind it), adding Bosun as a second destination is enough — but make sure at least one destination still reaches a human mailbox until your team is settled in Bosun.

Check it worked: Send a test email to the address. Bosun's setup screen watches live; most cPanel forwarders fire instantly.

Still not working?

Some hosts rate-limit or spam-filter outbound forwards. If tests arrive intermittently, ask your host whether SRS (Sender Rewriting Scheme) is enabled — without it, strict SPF senders may bounce. Our fixes index covers the common bounce codes.

If you hit this while setting up a shared team inbox: that's what Bosun is for — one forwarding rule, and your team answers hello@ together.
